Stoney Fork Paso Fino Farms is located in Ernul, North Carolina with over 50 acres of decidous hardwood forrest teeming with deer and other wildlife. Adjoining to our pastures are 450 acres of trails through a timber plantation which overlooks several large ponds teeming with beaver and other wild life. |

We offer Breeding (live foal guarantee), Sales, Training, Stud Services, Transportation and on site veterinarian care. Our trainers have over 20 years experience with the Paso Fino Horses. Our horses have been shown extensively throughout the years with wins in many shows of all classes. |

ABOUT THE PASO FINO HORSES |
The Paso Fino were breed in countries such as Dominican Republic, Puerto Rico, Columbia and Venezuela as well as the original countries. The Paso Fino remained a Latin Breed for many generations. Theese breeders had no need for large horses. The Latin breeders take great pride in the appearance of their horse's along with the execution of gait. Therefore, they were bred to enhance these charactertistics. The Paso Fino is a horse that carries itself with great pride, or "brios". The gait of the Paso Fino horse is totally natural and normally exhibited from birth. Is is an evenly-spaced-four-beat lateral gait with each four contacting the ground independently in a regular sequence at precise intervials creating a rapid, unbroken rhythm. Executed perfectly, the four hoof beats are absloutely even in both cadence and impact. Footfall is the same sequence as a natural equine walk, i.e., left rear, left fore, right rear, right fore. Propulsion is primary from the hind limbs and the horse's motion is absorbed in its back and loins, resulting in equal smoothness and comfort for the rider. The Paso Fino Four Beet Lateral Gaited horse and are preformed at 3 speeds which are: CLASSIC FINO; Which is by far the most exciting to watch or experience. The horse is extremely collected and balanced with rapid even four beat gaited footfall while moving very slow forward with a steady and unbroken rhythm. These horses perform in complete comllection, with upright carriage and neck breaking at the poll to allow the head to be held almost on the vertical. Not all Paso Fino Horses can perform this.The horses must be in excellent physical condition. The next speed known as the PASO CORTO; Which is a ground covering gait that is ideal for pleasure, and trail riding. This is performed at a very fast walk or running walk. With the Corto the collection is mild and extension varies within the two styles (Pleasure and Performance). With the Performance horses this is performed at a slower Corto, with, a shorter stride and more rapid footfall. The Pleasure Paso Fino horses have a faster, more relaxed Corto. While less execution is expected, there are no loss of the Paso Fino smoothness or gait footfall pattern. This speed is performed by Classic Fino Horses as well in the style of the Performance Paso. The other speed is the PASO LARGO; This is performed with great speed, as fast as the canter in many horses. The Largo is the speed form of the gait, with speeds up to 20 miles per hour. This speed is equivalent to a canter or in some cases a gallop. This is performed by both, Paso Fino Performance and Pleasure horses. The hock action and rear end drive and execution are stronger in the Performance Paso. With the Largo there must obvious extension of stride from the horses Corto as well as the speed. The rider should appear virtually motionless, in the saddle, and there should be no perceptible up and down motion of the horse's croup. The Paso Finos can execute other gaits natural to horses in addition to the Paso Fino gait, these are: THE WALK- Smooth, steady evenly-spaced four beat gait. THE LOPE- True, three-beat gait, slow, cadenced, smooth, straight on both leads, with no tendency to mix gaits. THE CANTER-True three-beat gait, straight on both leads and unhurried with no tendency to mix gaits. |
